Vacation -
Full-time, permanent employees initially earn 12
days per year. After six months of employment,
employees may use vacation leave with the
approval of their supervisor.
Sick Leave -
Regular employees are also entitled to 12 days
sick leave per year, which can be used for
personal illness or that of your dependant. Sick
leave can be also used for bereavement leave of
up to 5 days.
Holiday -
Most employees are entitled to 11 paid holidays
during which County offices are closed. Various
divisions within the Park Department are open on
these days and holiday time or pay is made to
employees required to work on these days.
Medical Insurance
- The County offers several Medical Plan options
to all regular full and part-time employees to
provide the widest selection of programs and
plan types. Coverage begins on the first day of
the pay period following or coinciding with the
date of employment. In addition to hospital and
physician services, all plans include mental
health, vision, prescription drug and
chiropractic coverage.
Dental - In
addition to medical insurance, the County also
offers two Dental Plans, an HMO and a
fee-for-service type plan.
Retirement -
The County provides two benefit retirement plans
that are governed by the 1937 Retirement Act
which includes both a contributory and
non-contributory plan. Under the contributory
plan, contributions are a percentage of
employee's salary based on age upon entrance to
county services. The non-contributory plan
requires no contributions by the employee but
provides for reduced benefits at the time of
retirement. This system is supplemented with
Social Security to give employees an attractive
plan, rewarding years of service |
