GROUP 1

  • Effects of new slough mouth, how much sediment will it contribute to beach?

  • Research on kelp beds and reef

  • Why a deficit in sand

  • Costs of moving utility lines

  • What effect does revetment have on downward beaches?

GROUP 2
  • Evaluation of hard and soft solutions from independent experts (not from seawall engineers)

  • More input from County staff

  • Cost and responsibility (agency) for utilities relocation

  • Evaluation of effects of current nourishment project

  • Research on sand movement up coast of Goleta Beach (detailed bathymetry offshore study)

GROUP 3
  • Build kelp trellis

  • Scientific study: cost-effective way to study beach erosion-site specific to Goleta Beach

  • Buy time-rock revetment, breakwater

  • No short term solution that doesn’t inhibit long term solution
